LISMA and Burundi enter into cooperation with each other
The Memorandum of Understanding between LISMA and the Republic of Burundi was signed during the visit of LISMA delegation to Africa. The document was signed by Igor Konstantinov, General Director on the part of LISMA and Com Manirakiza, Minister of Energy and Mines and Pelat Niyonkuru, Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, on the part of Burundi.
The document provides the interaction of parties in order to establish the plant for production of lamps. Under the agreement, LISMA undertakes to provide equipment, technology and materials; in its turn, the Government of Burundi provides with a land plot, all necessary permissions, guarantees and favourable conditions for investment.
After the signing of Memorandum of Understanding the parties has begun to develop the road map for the joint venture establishing. It is planned that founders agreement will be signed in June, and the first light sources will be manufactured in Burundi before the end of the year.
Following the results of the business trip to Africa, we maked sure that the cooperation is promising for us, - concluded Igor Konstantinov. - The Republic of Burundi is included in the East African Community (EAC), and has a common retail space with many others African countries, which means we gain the right for duty free importation of our products in the East African market. In this area there is no lighting production; all light sources are imported from China and Europe and sold at high prices, much higher than the international ones. Especially, in demand could be fluorescent, sodium and LED filament LISMA lamps.
It is expected late may, the delegation from Burundi visit Mordovia. The Government of the African republic expressed interest in further expansion of cooperation. In particular, during a meeting with the Mayor of Bujumbura (the capital of Burundi) it was announced of the special interest is Saransk experience in heavy construction of infrastructure facilities. Results of the visit were summed up during an audience with second Vice-President of Burundi (the third man in the country), who expressed confidence that cooperation with Mordovia will be an important step to realization of long-term and large-scale project of the industrial sector reconstruction in the Republic of Burundi.
The delegation of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Mordovia is grateful to George Todua, Russian ambassador in Burundi, with direct involvement of which the business trip was at a high organizational level.
